Aurora downs Buffalo, 3-1

Dylan Sikura racked up one point to lead the Aurora Tigers to a 3-1 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

 

Aurora stifled Buffalo’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Aurora additionally got points from Kory Kennedy, who also had one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Taylor McCloy as well. In addition, Aurora received assists from Calvin Higley, who had two.

The Jr. Sabres managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Buffalo wound up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. Sabres did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Buffalo puts an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Michael Ederer, who scored the team’s only goal. Ederer scored 8:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Max Mikowski picked up the assist.

The Tigers’ Kevin Entmaa stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Aurora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Joseph Pianta recorded 27 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
