Pat Egan lifted the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Burlington Cougars.
Egan notched his first tally 7:03 into the second period. He then added goals at 4:26 into the third and at 14:01 into the third.
Burlington was unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Sabres eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.
Buffalo also got points from Chris Moses (APJ), who also finished with one goal and one assist, Nico Gonzalez, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nolan Sheeran, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Max Mikowski, who had four and Ryan Kuhn, Nick Desimone, and Ben Casale, who contributed one a piece.
The Cougars were led by Steven Mueller, who tallied two goals. Mueller scored the first of his two goals at 19:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dillon Ciprietti provided the assist. Mueller’s next tally made the score 3-2 Buffalo with 2:18 left in the second period. Burlington had gotten the advantage when Buffalo’s Jason Heerdt was sent off for interference. Adam Burnett picked up the assist. Burlington also got a goal from Viktor Mueller as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Neil Aird, Ryan Wilkinson, Paolo DeSousa, and Daniel Campbell, who each chipped in one.
Joseph Pianta made 23 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 26 shots. Buffalo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Devin Tappendan recorded 27 saves for the Cougars. Burlington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
