Buffalo blows out Milton, 5-2

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres were firing on all cylinders against the Milton Icehawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Sabres emerged with a 5-2 win.

 

Pat Egan had two goals and one assist to lead Buffalo. Egan scored the first of his two goals at 9:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Josh Gabriel assisted on the tally. Egan’s next tally made the score 4-2 Buffalo with 1:31 left in the second period. Gabriel provided the assist.

Milton was unable to stop the Jr. Sabres from sending pucks towards the net, and Buffalo eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Jr. Sabres were also effective in the Icehawks’ zone, and came away with two goals.

Buffalo also got points from Nick Desimone, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Wilson Vershay and Nolan Sheeran, who each put in one. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Ryan Schmelzer, who had two and Michael EdererTim KielichDylan Howatt, and Nick Smith, who each chipped in one.

Milton was helped by Cooper Richards, who registered one goal. Richards scored on the power play 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-2. An interference penalty on Jason Heerdt had put the Icehawks on the power play. Kane Elliot assisted on the tally. Milton additionally got points from Alex Riche, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Milton came via Mitch Graham, who had one.

Joseph Pianta rejected 20 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ben Blacker recorded 41 saves for Milton. The Icehawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
