Buffalo downs St. Michaels, 5-1

Evan Bennett finished with one point to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to a 5-1 victory over the St. Michaels Buzzers.

 

Buffalo’s offense rang up 44 shots on St. Michaels’ net.

Buffalo additionally got points from Christopher Berger, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Brenden Dunning, Bryce Ferrell, and Dylan Seitz, who each put in one. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Aaron Reinig, who had two, Zach Evancho, who had three, and Tim Nicksic and Mitchell Spring, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. St. Michaels’ offense operated below its season average. The Buzzers average 3.4 goals per game.

St. Michaels was led by A.J. Dorazio, who scored the team’s only goal. Dorazio scored on the power play 19:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Bennett had put the Buzzers on the power play. Thomas Beretta picked up the assist.

Tucker Weppner recorded 23 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Michaels’ Mark Manolescu stopped 39 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Buzzers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
