Among those in attendance at Friday’s game were former Buffalo Jr. Sabre Rocy Gruttadauria.
The forward, who just days ago was honored by his college team’s conference as its Rookie of the Week, has frequented Jr. Sabres games as well. Gruttadauria, who was lined up to play for Buffalo for a third season, instead left the team in August when Niagara University offered him an immediate opening with their NCAA Division I team.
That team, which competes in the Atlantic Hockey conference, announced earlier this week that Gruttadauria was honored by the AHA as its Rookie of the Week.
