Buffalo uses big second period to beat Orangeville, 5-1

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres used a three-goal second period to put away the Orangeville Flyers, 5-1.

 

Buffalo was led by Tim Kielich, who racked up one goal. Kielich scored on the power play 4:43 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. A slashing penalty on Angelpooulos Peter had put the Jr. Sabres on the power play. Nick Desimone provided the assist.

Buffalo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Orangeville to score on any of its four power plays.

Buffalo also got points from Darren McCormick, who also registered one goal and one assist, Desimone, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Nolan Sheeran, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nathan Black also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via David Hopfer, who had two and Ryan KuhnNico GonzalezNick Smith, and Pat Egan, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Pianta made 22 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 23 shots. Buffalo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Taylor Welsh recorded 24 saves for the Flyers. Orangeville ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
