Buffalo uses early goal to top Milton, 2-1

Dylan Seitz scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres held off the challenges of the Milton Icehawks in a tough 2-1 win.

Buffalo took over the lead for good with a goal by Seitz at 6:11 in the first period. Zach Evancho provided the assist.

 

The Jr. Sabres were led by Evancho, who racked up one goal and one assist. Evancho scored 9:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. Matthew Buchbinder picked up the assist.

More assists for Buffalo came via Wilson Vershay and Nicholas Bondra, who contributed one each.

Milton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Icehawks were led by Philip Lagunov, who scored the team’s only goal. Lagunov scored on the power play 13:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo. Milton earned a power play opportunity when Mitchell Spring was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Sean Robertson provided the assist.

Brian Kowalski rejected 18 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Marcus Semiao made 21 saves for the Icehawks on 23 shots. Milton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
