The Lindsay Muskies’ Logan DeNoble had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team’s 5-2 win over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.
DeNoble scored on the power play at 4:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay and again while on the power play 9:37 into the second to make the score 4-2 Lindsay.
Lindsay’s penalty kill excelled, as the Muskies gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.
Lindsay stifled Buffalo’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Muskies forced the Jr. Sabres goalie Alex Connal to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Lindsay could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.
Stefan von Engelbrechten also scored for Lindsay. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Michael Spataro, who had two, Matthew Marchese, who had three, and Joseph Vocino, Austin Eastman, and Connor Annett, who each chipped in one.
Buffalo’s offense rang up 38 shots on the Muskies’ net. The Jr. Sabres were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 50 penalty minutes.
Buffalo was led by Justin Cmunt, who registered one goal. Cmunt scored 1:43 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lindsay. Tim Nicksic provided the assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Nico Gonzalez and Nick Smith, who each put in one. More assists for Buffalo came via Aiden Salerno, who had one and Nicholas Matos, who had two.
Boyd Diclemente made 36 saves for Lindsay on 38 shots. The Muskies registered four goals on eight power play opportunities. Connal rejected 42 shots on goal for the Jr. Sabres.
