Dual hat tricks lead 8-5 win in Orangeville

(Orangeville, ON) – Tyler Gjurich and Nolan Sheeran (in photo) both scored hat tricks, as the Buffalo Jr. Sabres downed the host Orangeville Flyers, 8-5, on Saturday night in Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

Gjurich’s opened the scoring with a first period power play goal, while Sheeran’s third of the night proved to be the game winner.  Max Mikowski and Ryan Schmelzer also scored, while Josh Kielich, Sean Federow, David Seward and Brian Ruff all recorded two assists.  Backup goaltender Bobby Bloomfield earned his eighth straight win, turning aside 29 shots.

Gjurich’s three goals raised his season total to a league-leading 43 heading into the final month of the regular season.  Sheeran’s hat trick boosted his goal total to 15 on the season.  He has scored eight points in his past five games.

Buffalo next hosts the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots on Monday night at the Northtown Center at Amherst, beginning at 7:30pm.
