The Ontario Junior Hockey League and Gongshow Gear have named Buffalo Jr. Sabres captain Zach Evancho as South-West Conference Runner-Up Player of the Month for October 2015.

Evancho registered 16 points in 12 games in the month of October for the Jr. Sabres. The team won nine of its 12 games last month.

Only twice in the month was Evancho held pointless in a game.

He opened the month with three points in two games as the Jr. Sabres defeated Milton (2-1) and North York (5-4). After being held pointless in a 6-3 win over the Raiders, Evancho roared back for a five-game point streak.

That streak included a three-point night in the team’s 7-2 win over Lindsay on October 16.

After being held pointless in the Jr. Sabres’ 4-3 defeat of Burlington on October 23, Evancho closed out the month with a three-game point streaks, earning six points in the final trio of games.

Evancho has registered points in each of the team’s games in November so far, extending his active point streak to five games. He’s notched at least a point in 16 of 22 games this season overall and is already nearing his point total for last season, when he had 35 points in 37 games.

Earlier this season, Evancho announced his commitment to play Division I hockey at Army next season.
