(Amherst, NY) – Everything that could go right for the Buffalo Junior Sabres did. The team killed penalties, produced goals and even scored while shorthanded, taking Game One of their Ontario Junior Hockey League first round playoff series with a 5-0 win over the visiting Hamilton Red Wings.
Shane Bennett opened the scoring in the first period. Team captain Mark Arnone scored twice, including a shorthanded tally finishing off a rush started by teammate Andrew Poturalski, who also scored along with John Kielich.
Parker Gahagen turned aside all 22 Hamilton shots on goal.
Game Two will be played on Tuesday, November 14 at the Northtown Center in Amherst. The opening faceoff is scheduled for approximately 6:30pm.
