Game Recaps (1/10 to 1/19)

On January 10th the Jr. Sabres took on the Brantford 99ers at home, with Aiden McKenna getting the start in net. The 99ers would strike first before Nick Shaw would score unassisted for the Jr. Sabres to tie the game back up. Heading into the second period with the game tied the Jr. Sabres would quickly take the lead with a goal from Tyler Isherwood assisted by Cameron Doran and Michael Kull. The 99ers would answer with two goals of their own to end the second period with a 3-2 lead. Haeden Ellis would get the lone goal of the third period assisted by Isherwood and Jaden Ward. With the game tied at 3-3 the Jr. Sabres forced the game to overtime. The Jr. Sabres would get the 4-3 overtime victory with a goal from Kull assisted by Isherwood and Ward. McKenna made 30 saves in the Jr. Sabres overtime victory.

 

On January 16th the Jr. Sabres took on the Mississauga Chargers at home, Leif Ekblad would get the start in net. The Chargers quickly scored to take a 1-0 lead, which they held onto through the first period. The Jr. Sabres would take a 2-1 lead in the second period. Kull got the first Jr. Sabres goal assisted by Danny Phelan and Isherwood. Patrick Cole would give the Jr. Sabres the lead with a power play goal assisted by Dylan Mcfadden and Doran. The Chargers would quickly tie the game back up to start the third period. Josh Przystal would give the Jr. Sabres the lead back assisted by Sam Christiano and Ellis. Cole would get his second goal of the game to give the Jr. Sabres the 4-2 lead with assists from Brody Seitz and Phelan. The Jr. Sabres would skate away with the 4-2 victory as Ekblad made 27 saves.

 

On January 18th the Jr. Sabres were on the road to take on the Caledon Admirals, with McKenna getting the start in net. Gavin Klaassen would score first for the Jr. Sabres with assists from Adam Power and Doran. Cole would give the Jr. Sabres the 2-0 lead assisted by Phelan and Ward. The Jr. Sabres held on to the 2-0 lead to finish the first period. Seitz would give the Jr. Sabres the 3-0 lead in the second period assisted by Mcfadden and Cole. Ellis would seal the victory for the Jr. Sabres in the third period with a power play goal assisted by Doran and Ryan Shuler. McKenna made 20 saves in the Jr. Sabres 4-0 victory.

 

On January 19th the Jr. Sabres were back on the road to take on the Collingwood Blues, McKenna would get the start in net. After one period the Blues would hold a 1-0 lead. Early in the second period the Jr. Sabres would tie the game back up with a power play goal from Mcfadden assisted by Christiano. The Blues would answer with a goal of thier own to take a 2-1 lead before the Jr. Sabres would tie it back up with an unassisted goal form Klaassen. The Blues would score another to finish the second period with a 3-2 lead. The Blues would take a 4-2 lead in the third period before the Jr. Sabres would get back within one with a goal from Shaw assisted by Ward and Klaassen. The Blues would get an empty net goal to get the 5-3 victory. McKenna made 25 saves against the Blues.

 

Next up the Jr. Sabres are back at home on January 24th to take on the Oakville Blades at 7:45pm.

The Jr. Sabres are now 25-15-0-2 for the season and remain solidly in fourth place in the West Conference and sit in seventh place in the league.
