On Wednesday October 4th the Jr. Sabres faced off against the Oakville Blades with Aiden McKenna getting the start in net. With the Blades getting two power play goals in the first along with an even strength goal, the Jr. Sabres headed into the second period trailing by three. Josh Przystal would quickly get the Jr. Sabres on the board with assists from Ryan Shuler and Gavin Klaassen. However, in a game filled with penalties the Jr. Sabres were unable to make a comeback. The Blades sealed the 4-1 victory with an empty net goal in the third period.
On Friday October 6th the Jr. Sabres were on the road to take on the Milton Menace as Leif Ekblad got the start in net. The first period was quiet as the score remained tied on zero. The Jr. Sabres would strike first in the second period with a power play goal by Patrick Cole assisted by Dylan Mcfadden and Cameron Doran. The Menace would quickly respond with a power play goal to tie the game back up at one a piece. Mcfadden with an assist from Doran would give the Jr. Sabres a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, the rest of the game was the Menace as they scored three more goals, including an empty netter. Ekblad made 27 saves as the Menace skated away with the 4-2 victory.
The Jr. Sabres now sit at 5-5-0-1 for the season. Next up the Jr. Sabres are back at the LECOM Harborcenter on October 11th as they host the Brantford 99ers.
