Huge game by Farrell boosts Buffalo over Mississauga, 6-2

Colin Farrell was all over the ice for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Buffalo’s 6-2 win over the Mississauga Chargers.

Farrell found the back of the net 1:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo and again while 8:48 into the third to make the score 5-2 Buffalo.

 

The Jr. Sabres forced Mississauga’s goaltenders to work in net, launching 31 shots and forcing 25 saves. Alex Lepore made 17 stops and Liam Myllett made eight. Team’s forwards weren’t the only contributers offensively, and the team’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Buffalo additionally got points from Kenny Tencza, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Buffalo also got a goal from Tim Nicksic as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Nico Gonzalez, who had two and Aaron ReinigChris BergerNick Matos, and Tim Kielich, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 12 saves.

Mississauga was helped by Stefano Alonzi, who tallied one goal. Alonzi scored on the power play 6:40 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Buffalo. The Chargers had gotten the advantage when Buffalo’s Kielich was sent off for slashing. Mitch Mehling picked up the assist. Austin Galli also scored for Mississauga. More assists for Mississauga came via Vince Figliomeni, who had two.

Alex Connal made seven saves before being replaced by Nate Skidmore, who took the win and made five saves. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mississauga incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
