(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Jr. Sabres put 46 shots on the Burlington net, while Jr. Sabres goalie Parker Gahagen stopped all 30 Cougar shots he faced. In the end, Buffalo bested their visitors to improve their hold on first place in the OJHL West Division, defeating the Cougars 3-0.
After a scoreless first period, Pat Egan scored a power play goal at the 11:23 mark of the second period, assisted by Dylan Howatt and Nolan Sheeran. Buffalo built its lead at the 6:15 mark of the third period when Tyler Gjurich put home his ninth goal of the season, completing a play set up by Ryan Schmelzer and David Seward. Howatt finished off the scoring in the final minute of play with an empty-net tally.
While Gahagen stopped 30 shots, Burlington goaltender Brock Novak deserves recognition for his 43 save performance, stopping several tough Buffalo shots to keep the game close.
The Jr. Sabres return to game action on Saturday, October 20 with a trip to Mississaugua to face the Chargers.
