Jr. Sabres Climb to #8 in CJHL Ranking

(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres, members of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, have climbed two places in a weekly ranking of Canadian Junior “A” hockey clubs and as of today, December 10, 2012, are ranked the eighth best team in Canadian Jr. “A” hockey by the Canadian Junior Hockey League, an organization that oversees ten Canadian Junior “A” hockey leagues including the OJHL.

Last week, the team was ranked #10 for the second consecutive week.  This week’s ranking is the highest ever for the franchise.

The Jr. Sabres, who hold first place in the OJHL West Division, will return to game action tonight against the St. Michael’s Buzzers at the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive (between Maple & Millersport) beginning at 7:30pm.   St. Michael’s was ranked #17 by the CJHL last week.  Although this week they have fallen out of the CJHL’s Top 20, they remain an “honourable mention” in that ranking and hold first place in the OJHL South Division.

The CJHL, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, is an organization that oversees ten Canadian junior hockey leagues including the OJHL.  The CJHL’s roles include development of consistent rules and discipline protocols among its leagues and determining an annual Canadian Junior “A” national champion.  Their Top 20 ranking is assembled with the assistance of the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting.  The latest ranking can be seen at this link http://ojhl.pointstreaksites.com/view/ojhl/news-21/news_61421
