Jr. Sabres Drop Wings in Hamilton, 7-2

(Hamilton, ON) – The Buffalo Jr. Sabres, who have been overtaken by one point by the Georgetown Raiders in the OJHL West Division, are keeping pace with the Raiders thanks to a 7-2 win Saturday evening at the Mountain Arena in Hamilton, Ontario.
Ryan Schmelzer and David Seward (file photo, courtesy OJHL Images) both scored twice for Buffalo. Tyler Gjurich, back in action following a two-game suspension, scored his 39th goal of the season and added two assists to remain the OJHL’s leading scorer with 78 total points. Schmelzer, meanwhile, has climbed to the OJHL’s eighth leading scorer with 22 goals and 36 assists (58 points) in 42 games.
Also scoring for Buffalo were Tim Kielich and Pat Egan. Backup goaltender Bobby Bloomfield turned aside 21 shots to earn his seventh straight win of the season. Bloomfield has not lost a start since October 12.
Buffalo (30 wins, 11 losses, 4 shootout losses) next hosts the Milton Icehawks on Wednesday, January 23 at 7:30pm in the Northtown Center at Amherst.
