JR. SABRES HOST DIVISION RIVAL FLYERS

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres host division rival Orangeville on Wednesday night at the First Niagara Rink at HARBORCENTER. Puck drop is set for 7:35 p.m.

Heading into tonight’s game, the Jr. Sabres are on a three-game winning streak.

Since January 10, they’ve outscored their opponents 20-12, capturing wins over St. Michaels, Burlington and North York.

Four Jr. Sabres players are on three-game point streaks, including Tim Nicksic, who has eight points (4-4) in that last three games.

Forwards Christopher Berger (2-4) and Nicholas Bondra (1-5) each have six points in the last three games, while Griffin Lunn has recorded four points, all assists, in that time.

Another player to watch for the Jr. Sabres: Bryce Ferrell. Ferrell has four goals in his last two games, including a hat trick in the team’s 7-6 win over the Buzzers.

David Baskerville (1-2), Brenden Dunning (1-2) and Zach Evancho (2-3) each have two-game point streaks of their own going.

Evancho currently leads the team with 26 goals, 35 assists and 61 points in 42 games. That includes 19 points scored on the power-play.

The Jr. Sabres currently sit first in the West Division with 59 points, 15 ahead of the Orangeville Flyers.

The Jr. Sabres are 28-13-1-2 this season, compared to Orangeville’s 20-18-1-3.

Buffalo continues to be the most penalized team in the league with 972 PIMs on the season and have won 14 of 21 games at home.

Tonight’s game is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Jr. Sabres and Flyers. Buffalo has won all three meetings thus far and looks to complete the season sweep this evening.

Overall, the Jr. Sabres have outscored the Flyers 14-9 in the three meetings thus far this season, despite being collectively outshot 113-107.

Following tonight’s game, the Jr. Sabres head out on a two-game weekend road trip to face St. Michaels and Milton this Saturday and Sunday. They’ll return home to host the Buzzers on January 27 at 7:35 p.m.
