(Toronto, ON) – Alex Dagnal, Pat Egan and Max Mikowski scored goals while Parker Gahagen stopped all 30 shots he faced in the Buffalo Junior Sabres’ victorious 2012-13 Ontario Junior Hockey League season opener, a 3-0 win on the road against the Toronto Junior Canadiens.
Dagnal’s goal came with about 11 minutes remaining in the second period, assisted by Nathan Pelligra and Derek Patterson, who recorded two assists in the game. Pat Egan scored with about a minute and a half left in the second, assisted by Max Mikowski and Dylan Howatt. Mikowski added his own goal (shown in photo) in the third period, assisted by Patterson and Sam Berg.
Buffalo was actually outshot by their hosts, with the Jr. Sabres putting 23 shots on the Jr. Canadiens net.
At the end of the game Patterson, the Jr. Sabres’ captain, collected two Jr. Canadiens game pucks from the officials, one for Gahagen and the other for Michael Peca, who recorded a victory in his first regular season Junior A game.
Buffalo returns to game action on Wednesday, September 12 when they host their home opener against the Burlington Cougars, beginning at 7:30pm at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
