Jr. Sabres Return Home with 6-2 Victory Against Mississauga Chargers

Coming off their win against the Wellington Dukes, the Jr. Sabres were back on the road on September 23rd to face off against the Mississauga Chargers. Leif Ekblad got the start in net for the Jr. Sabres. The first period was all the Jr. Sabres as they got two goals past the Chargers goalie. The Jr. Sabres opened the scoring with a goal from Patrick Cole and an assist from Tyler Isherwood. Dylan McFadden got the second Jr. Sabres goal with an assist from Brody Seitz. The second period would see the Jr. Sabres and Chargers trade goals, with the Jr. Sabres ultimately holding onto the lead with a 5-2 score at the end of the second. Jaden Ward put the third goal on the board with an assist from Isherwood. Danny Phelan got his first OJHL goal unassisted to put the Jr. Sabres ahead 4-1. The Chargers scored their second goal to make it 4-2 before the Jr. Sabres quickly came back to make it 5-2 on a short-handed goal from Gavin Klaassen. Klaassen was assisted on his first OJHL goal by Isherwood and Carter Cwiklinski. As the Jr. Sabres headed into the third period with a three-goal lead, they did not let off the gas. Zach Derito put the sixth Jr. Sabres goal on the board with assists from Isherwood and Michael Kull. Ekblad made 38 saves to help the Jr. Sabres go home with the 6-2 victory.

The Jr. Sabres are now 4-2 in the regular season. Next up the Jr. Sabres return home to the LECOM Harborcenter to host the Governors Showcase September 26th to 28th where they face off against the Stouffville Spirit and the Toronto Patriots.
