(Brampton, ON) – Maybe they didn’t get to head into Christmas with a win, but the Buffalo Junior Sabres returned to Ontario Junior Hockey League action on a winning note, taking two points on the road with their 4-1 win against the host Brampton Capitals.
Chris Luker, Ryan Schmelzer, Josh Kielich and Jonas Fredrikkson scored for Buffalo, while Nick Brusa broke the Jr. Sabres’ shutout bid late in the third with Brampton’s only goal, a power play tally.
Luker and Schmelzer also recorded two assists, as did teammate Rocky Gruttadauria. Schmelzer has extended his goal scoring streak to three consecutive games.
Jr. Sabres puckstopper Parker Gahagen stopped 21 shots while his Brampton counterpart, Andre Kiere, turned aside 39 of 43 shots.
The Jr. Sabres now head into a longer lull between games, with none on the schedule until Friday, January 9, when they travel to Markham, Ontario to face the Waxers.
