(Cobourg, ON) – Each year the Ontario Junior Hockey League hosts the Governors Showcase, where every team in the league gathers in one town to play before a multitude of scouts. Buffalo Junior Sabres players certainly left an impression on those scouts, as the team routed the Brampton Capitals by a score of 11-3.
Ryan Schmelzer scored a hat trick, while Andrew Poturalski and David Seward both scored twice. Also scoring goals were Josh Kielich, Tim Kielich, Alex Dagnal and Nick Berst.
Parker Gahagen got the start in the Buffalo net, turning aside 12 of 15 shots. Tyler Fallica, who relieved Gahagen in the third period, stopped all six shots he faced.
The Showcase games count in the OJHL standings, thus Buffalo picks up a very important two points to stay in a tight race for first place in the OJHL West Division.
The Junior Sabres return to action next Wednesday at home against the Hamilton Red Wings.
