Oakville boosted by McGlynn’s play in net, beats Buffalo 4-1

The Oakville Blades relied on the sparkling performance of Brendan McGlynn in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.


Oakville was led by Josh Kosack, who finished with one goal. Kosack scored 16:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Greg Campbell picked up the assist.

The Blades’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Buffalo power plays.

Oakville also got points from Matthew McLeod, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ryan Garvey, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ross Sloan also scored for Oakville. More assists for Oakville came via Daniel JelicKamil TkaczukRyan Burns, and Tyler Burns, who contributed one each.

Buffalo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Sabres were held below their usual level of production. Buffalo averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Jr. Sabres were led by David Baskerville, who scored the team’s only goal. Baskerville scored 10:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Collin Farrell provided the assist.

Oakville’s McGlynn stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nate Skidmore rejected 15 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
