Christian Rajic gave the Oakville Blades the lead in the first period, and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.
Oakville took over the lead for good with a goal by Rajic at 7:20 in the first period. Drew Worrad assisted on the tally.
The Blades were led by Rajic, who grabbed one goal.
Oakville stifled Buffalo’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blades did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 11 saves. Oakville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.
Oakville also got a goal from Brendan DAgostino as well. In addition, Oakville received assists from Brendan Doherty, Tyler Rollo, and Peyton Reeves, who each chipped in one.
The Jr. Sabres did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Buffalo puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.
Brendan McGlynn rejected 18 shots on goal for the Blades. Oakville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Tucker Weppner recorded 11 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
