(Amherst, NY) – Goals by Alex Dagnal, Andrew Poturalski and Derek Patterson were not enough for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, who dropped a home game in overtime, 4-3, to the visiting Huntsville Otters.
Dagnal’s goal at the 2:08 mark of the second period opened the scoring. Daniel Clairmont (power play) and Darren Young scored back to back goals to give the Otters the lead but later in the period Andrew Poturalski ripped a wrister past Otters goalie Vince Merante to even the score at 2-2.
Derek Patterson put the hosts back in the lead with his power play goal at 12:26 of the third period, but the Otters responded with Young’s second tally of the night. Mich Eden then earned the win for Huntsville with his overtime goal.
Merante, a native of Niagara Falls, New York, stopped 33 of 36 Buffalo shots, while Jr. Sabres goaltender Curran McNamara turned aside 24 Huntsville shots.
The overtime loss completes a stretch of three games in three nights for the Jr. Sabres, who next play at home on Monday, January 23 against the Burlington Cougars.

NOTES: Matt Mahony and Jacob Ledyard began serving two-game suspensions with Tuesday night’s game against Huntsville. They will remain out of the lineup next Monday as the result of infractions during the team’s 5-2 win at Hamilton on Monday night.
Stormy weather in the Western New York region on Tuesday evening, most notably heavy winds, adversely affected the Jr. Sabres’ webcast of the Otters game. The webcast was interrupted twice by an apparent power surge brought on by problems outside the arena.
