Stouffville took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Buffalo storm back on a Daniel Lafontaine goal 18:13 into the third period to pull to one goal down.
Tyson Bruce was all over the ice for the Spirit, as he finished with two goals in the win.
Stouffville forced Jr. Sabres’ netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Nate Skidmore made 16 stops and Alex Connal made 15.
Stouffville also had goals scored by Nathan Hudgin and Nick Thomakos, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Brodie Tutton and Chad Burrows, who each chipped in one and Greg Allen and Matthew Dunlop, who contributed two each.
The Jr. Sabres’ offense rang up 37 shots on the Spirit’s net. Buffalo found itself short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.
The Jr. Sabres were led by Ryan Kuhn, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Kuhn scored 15:32 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stouffville. Josh Gabriel picked up the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Tim Kielich as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Aiden Salerno, Wilson Vershay, and Brenden Dunning, who each chipped in one.
Aaron Taylor made 34 saves for Stouffville on 37 shots. The Spirit incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Buffalo registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
