(Amherst, NY) – The came, they skated, some even literally fought for their opportunity to crack the Buffalo Junior Sabres roster. On Saturday, May 18, the team hosted its final sessions of 2012 Tryouts with a two-part session at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
Players were divided into two teams. As they did in previous sessions, coaches came up with names of famous former Buffalo Sabres associates for team names. This weekend, it was Team Bowman vs. Team Muckler. The squads practiced separately in the morning session. Later in the afternoon, Teams Bowman and Muckler faced each other in a referee-controlled full length scrimmage game.
Now, the coaching staff gets the hard part: whittling down the numbers to a squad they plan to work out as early as mid-July.
Players were to be contacted individually with the results of final cuts.
