(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres will start their preparations for the 2012-13 Ontario Junior Hockey League season by hosting tryouts, which begin the weekend of April 21 and 22, 2012.
Tryouts will be held at the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive. Space will be limited. Interested players may click on the Tryouts 2012-13 link at the top of the page for more information and the link to download an application.
The Junior Sabres, operated by members of the Buffalo Sabres Alumni, will be led by head coach and general manager Michael Peca in the 2012-13 season.
Founded in 1975, the Junior Sabres organization develops elite level players for consideration by higher-level hockey programs, most notably NCAA college hockey. Three players from the team’s 2011-12 roster have verbally committed to NCAA Division-I programs.
The Junior Sabres have also served as a stepping stone for a handful of NHL talents, including Ryan Callahan, Brian Gionta, Lee Stempniak, Kevyn Adams, Todd Marchant and Aaron Miller.
