The xWhitby Fury took home the win against the xBuffalo Jr. Sabres, 5-2.
xWhitby was helped by Sean Darroch, who racked up one goal. Darroch scored 18:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xWhitby. xWhitby additionally got points from Jeff Murray, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jeremy Wu, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. xWhitby also had goals scored by Zach Viminitz and Greg Milner, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for xWhitby were Connor Hale, Mike Panowyk, Ryan Kirkup, Adam Clements, and Carter Landry, who contributed one a piece.
xBuffalo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Sabres ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. xBuffalo could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr. Sabres average 4.7 goals per game. xBuffalo’s offense rang up 31 shots on the Fury’s net.
The Jr. Sabres were helped by Ryan Kuhn, who finished with one goal. Kuhn scored 10:50 into the third period to make the score 4-2 xWhitby. Dylan Howatt also scored for xBuffalo. In addition, xBuffalo received assists from Tony DeVito and Pat Egan, who each chipped in one.
Tyler Feaver recorded 29 saves for xWhitby. The Fury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. xBuffalo’s Joseph Pianta stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
