Mikowski commits to RIT

AMHERST – For the second time within a week, the Buffalo Jr. Sabres are celebrating a college commitment by one of its players. Forward Max Mikowski has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology and its NCAA D-I hockey program beginning next season.

A native of Fredonia, NY who resides in Cheektowaga, NY, Mikowski is currently in his third season with the team. As of this date, he is tied for third in team scoring with 25 points (8 goals, 17 assists) in 24 games played. He recently enjoyed a streak of ten points in three games from November 2-8, including a two-goal, three-assist performance in Buffalo’s 9-4 win over the Lindsay Muskies at Lindsay on November 8.

Mikowski becomes the seventh player on the current roster to firm up his college plans. His announcement comes less than a week after Nick DeSimone announced his commitment to Union College. Additionally, the following members of the current roster are committed to college hockey programs: Ryan Schmelzer and Nolan Sheeran (Canisius, beginning 2014), Mason Evans (Connecticut College, 2014), Dennis Gilbert (Niagara University, 2015) and Michael Ederer (St. Lawrence, 2015).
