(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres announced today, Friday, February 8, 2013, that forward Nathan Pelligra (Webster, NY) has committed to Manhattanville College beginning with academic year 2013-14.
“I’m excited to go to Manhattanville,” said Pelligra, who plans to major in finance. “They have a first class hockey program and offer a great education. I also look forward to all the career opportunities that come with going to school near New York City.”
Pelligra, 20, becomes the sixth member of the current roster to confirm his college plans. A native of the Rochester area, Pelligra previously played junior hockey for the Rochester Stars of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, where he scored five goals and seven assists in 32 games during the 2011-2012 season. Since moving to Buffalo to play under head coach Michael Peca, his production has significantly increased. In 48 games played so far, he has scored 14 goals and 26 assists. He is the team’s fifth-leading scorer.
“Playing for Coach Peca is a once in a life time opportunity, “said Pelligra. “He has taught me a lot about the little things that makes you a successful hockey player. The whole coaching staff really helped me raise my level of play this year. My teammates have been great and I’ve had a lot of fun with our success. I would like to thank everyone in the entire Buffalo Jr. Sabres organization for making my last year of junior the best.”
