The Jr. Sabres got back in the win column with three wins this week.
First up the Jr. Sabres took on the Mississauga Chargers on December 6th at home, with Aiden McKenna getting the start. The Chargers would strike early to take the 1-0 lead. Cameron Doran would quickly tie it back up for the Jr. Sabres assisted by Patrick Cole and Carter Cwiklinski. Dylan Mcfadden would give the Jr. Sabres the 2-1 lead assisted by Doran and Cwiklinski. As the Jr. Sabres headed into the second period with the 2-1 lead Tyler Isherwood would put the third Jr. Sabres goal on the board with assists from Zach Derito and Beckett Hinchsliff. At the end of the second the Chargers were back within one with the score at 3-2. Late in the third period Patrick Cole would get an empty net goal assisted by Doran and Mcfadden. Cole’s goal would seal the first victory of the week for the Jr. Sabres. McKenna made 24 saves in net for the Jr. Sabres.
Next up the Jr. Sabres hit the road on December 8th to take on the Markham Royals, with McKenna getting another start in net. The Royals took an early 1-0 lead in the first period before extending their lead to 2-0 early in the second period. The Jr. Sabres would quickly answer with a goal from Hinchsliff assisted by Michael Kull and Ryan Shuler. Mcfadden would tie the game at two a piece assisted by Alex Perreault. The Jr. Sabres would finish the second period with a 3-2 lead thanks to a goal from Kull assisted by Zach Derito and Isherwood. McKenna would make 8 saves in the third period to help seal the 3-2 victory for the Jr. Sabres.
Sunday December 10th the Jr. Sabres were back at home as they took on the Niagara Falls Canucks, with McKenna getting another start in net. Kull would get the Jr. Sabres on the board assisted by Perreault and Adam Power. The Canucks would tie the game back at 1-1 before the Jr. Sabres would take the lead back with a goal from Mcfadden assisted by Cole and Doran. The Jr. Sabres would extend their lead with a goal to start the second period by Cole assisted by Mcfadden and Shuler. The Canucks would bring the score back to 3-2 before tying the game back up in the third period with a power play goal. Kull would get his second of the game to give the Jr. Sabres the 4-3 victory.
The Jr. Sabres are now 17-12-0-2 and sit at 5th place in the West. Next up the Jr. Sabres take on the Trenton Golden Hawks on December 13th at 3:30pm at the LECOM Harborcenter.
