Billet Program Testimonials

“Billeting a kid from another state to play hockey was an experience that not only enriched our family’s understanding of the sport but also deepened the bonds of what it truly means to be part of a hockey family. When we first opened our doors to this young athlete, he was, in a sense, a stranger, but what we soon discovered was that we were welcoming much more than just a player into our home—we were embracing a new family member.

Our primary goal was to give our own boys the chance to experience what it means to have a “big brother” figure, someone to look up to and learn from. And while we hoped that our sons would benefit from the experience, it became clear that we were all learning valuable lessons along the way. We watched with pride as he grew, not only as a hockey player but as a young person developing in new ways, both on and off the ice.

What started as a simple gesture of hospitality soon turned into a beautiful bond, filled with laughter, shared moments, and countless memories. We cheered together at games, celebrated his successes, and supported him through challenges. It wasn’t just about hockey—it was about becoming part of something much bigger, a community that values family, support, and the strength of connection.

In the end, what we welcomed into our home wasn’t just a stranger, but a wonderful family, and the experience of billeting this young player enriched our lives in ways we never could have anticipated. It taught us the true meaning of being a hockey family and showed us that sometimes, the greatest wins happen off the ice.
