Andrew Poturalski scored two goals and Parker Gahagen turned aside 47 shots as the Buffalo Junior Sabres topped the host Georgetown Raiders, 3-1, on Saturday night.
Gahagen also assisted on Poturalski’s first goal, which came 4:36 into the first period. After Georgetown’s Brendan Woods tied the game just seconds into the second period, Poturalski’s second goal of the game at 10:36 of that period would prove to be the winner.
Dylan Howatt added a third goal on the power play in the third period in what turned out to be a penalty-filled affair. The Jr. Sabres racked up 39 minutes on 11 calls while the host Raiders recorded 33 minutes on 12 infractions.
The Jr. Sabres return to game action on Tuesday at home vs. the Markham Waxers. The opening faceoff is 7:30pm at the Lexus Feature Rink in the Northtown Center in Amherst.
