The Buffalo Jr. Sabres wish to congrate Jr. Sabres alumni Nick DeSimone, who signed a two-year contract with the NHL’s San Jose Sharks earlier this week. DeSimone, an East Amherst native, spent one season with the Jr. Sabres organization. He averaged nearly a point-per-game in the 2013-14 season with the OJHL team, scoring 13 goals and adding 38 assists for 51 points in 52 games. The defenseman also put up six points in 11 playoff games that season.

One of our alternate captains, he ranked second among league defenseman in scoring and was named a first-team OJHL All Star. He was also named runner-up for the OJHL Top Defenseman Award.

Following his brief OJHL stint, DeSimone joined Union College, where he has spent the last three seasons bolstering the blueline. This season, he put up 19 points (9-10) in 38 games and was a plus-13.

The 22-year-old was an unrestricted free agent.

Congratulations, Nick!
