This week Ypsilanti, Michigan native and Jr. Sabres assistant captain Gavin Klaassen (’03) announced his commitment to Wentworth Institute of Technology. Klaassen played in 52 regular season games as well as six playoff games for the Jr. Sabres. Klaassen had nine goals and 16 assists for the season.

Of Klaassen, General Manager and Head Coach Sean Wallace said, “As we were putting together our team in the off-season, we knew we needed to bring in players with junior experience for our first year back. Gavin was the perfect addition.”

As an alternate captain, he had a key part of leading the team this season as they returned to the OJHL.  Klaassen played over 100 games between the North American Hockey League, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, and the OJHL. Wentworth Institute plays in the NCAA Division III conference.

Wallace added, “Gavin came from a high-end youth organization in Victory Honda and in junior had Centennial Cup experience. Gavin has a tremendous work ethic, set an example all season and helped lead our group.”

The entire Jr. Sabres organization congratulates Gavin on his commitment to Wentworth Institute of Technology and wish Gavin all the best in his next chapter.
