Game Recaps 1/28 -2/3

The Jr. Sabres finished out January at home with a matchup against the Niagara Falls Canucks on January 31st. Dylan Mcfadden quickly gave the Jr. Sabres a 1-0 lead to start the game with assists from Haeden Ellis and Jaden Ward. The Canucks would tie the game at 1-1 as the first period ended and took a 2-1 lead early in the second period. Tyler Isherwood would tie it back up in the second period for the Jr. Sabres with an assist from Sam Christiano. With the game tied at 2-2 heading into the third period, the Canucks would control the period with a power play goal and an empty net goal to secure the Canucks the 4-2 victory.

 

February 2nd the Jr. Sabres were on the road to take on the Burlington Cougars. Patrick Cole would get a power play goal to give the Jr. Sabres the 1-0 lead to start. Ellis and Brody Seitz got the assists on Cole’s goal. The Cougars would answer with a power play goal of their own to tie the game 1-1. Cole would take the lead back for the Jr. Sabres with his second of the game, this goal assisted by Ellis and Ryan Shuler. Danny Phelan would quickly score the Jr. Sabres third goal assisted by Isherwood. Heading into the second period with the Jr. Sabres holding a 3-1 lead the Cougars would score the two goals for the period to tie the game back at 3-3. The Cougars would take the 4-3 lead in the third period before securing their 5-3 victory with an empty net goal.

 

The Jr. Sabres remain in fourth in the West Conference with a 25-18-0-3 record for the season. Next up the Jr. Sabres host the Haliburton County Huskies at home on February 4th at 3:15pm.
