(Oakville, ON) – The Buffalo Jr. Sabres conceded an early goal but rallied to defeat the Oakville Blades, 3-2, at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario.
Eric Chore pounced on a Buffalo miscue to give the hosts the first lead of the game at the 6:49 mark of the first period. Buffalo’s Tyler Gjurich tied the score at the 15:53 mark of the first, but Oakville regained the lead just moments later on Len Fabbri’s tally.
After a scoreless second period, Buffalo evened the score on a power play goal by Ryan Schmelzer (photo) with 14:51 left in the third period. Gjurich scored his second goal of the game, which proved to be the game winner, at the 17:35 mark of the third.
Buffalo goaltender Parker Gahagen stopped 23 shots to earn the win. Rookie defenseman Ben Casale added two assists.
Buffalo and Oakville will face each other again on Tuesday, November 6 at the Northtown Center at Amherst, beginning at 7:30 pm.
