Jr. Sabres Clip Wings; Win Streak At Five

(Hamilton, ON) – Buffalo Jr. Sabres leading scorer Tyler Gjurich (file photo) remained on a roll, scoring two unassisted shorthanded goals in Buffalo’s 5-1 win over the Hamilton Red Wings at the Mountain Arena in Hamilton, Ontario.
Gjurich’s first shorthanded goal came at the 3:28 mark of the first period. Hamilton’s Troy Crema tied the game at the 3:35 mark of the second period. The Jr. Sabres’ Brian Ruff struck back with what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 10:07 mark of the second, assisted by Dylan Howatt and Josh Kielich. About three minutes later, Nathan Pelligra increased Buffalo’s lead to 3-1 with a goal assisted by Howatt and Pat Egan. Pelligra and team captain Derek Patterson then set up Ryall Ledyard’s goal at the 17:48 mark of the third.
Gjurich netted his second shorthanded goal at the 8:33 mark of the third period. The goals were his 21st and 22nd of the season.
Bobby Bloomfield got the start in net for the Jr. Sabres and turned aside 30 shots to earn his third win of the season, improving his record to 3-2. The Jr. Sabres, meanwhile, put 41 shots on Hamilton goaltender Avery Allen.
The Jr. Sabres extended their winning streak to five games with tonight’s victory. Their next game is Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30pm against the North York Rangers at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
