Jr. Sabres to face NAHL’s Jamestown Ironmen

(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres and North American Hockey League franchise Jamestown Ironmen announced today that they will play against each other in a two-game “home and home” exhibition series beginning Saturday, September 1, when the Jr. Sabres host the first game at the Northtown Center at Amherst beginning at 7:00pm.

Admission for the game in Amherst is free.

The Ironmen will host the second game on Friday, September 7 beginning at 7:00pm at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, 319 West 3rd Street, Jamestown.

Both sides see these games as an ideal opportunity to test their talent while getting local hockey fans excited about the coming season.

“I’m very excited, as are our boys, to get into game action,” said Buffalo Jr. Sabres Head Coach and General Manager Michael Peca. “We have had a tremendous buzz around our team all summer and to be this close to the season you can feel that excitement.  Getting the chance to play the Jamestown Ironmen will certainly test us and at the same time give our coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate our group in a true game setting.  Jamestown always fields a tough group to compete against.   It should make for some great hockey.”

“The Jamestown Ironmen are very excited to have the opportunity to play a great organization like the Jr. Sabres,” said Jamestown Ironmen Head Coach and General Manager Dan Daikawa.  “We hope that we can build a great relationship and have many good rivalries to come.”

The Jr. Sabres open their Ontario Junior Hockey League season on Sunday, September 9 at the Toronto Jr. Canadiens and then host their home opener on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00pm against the Burlington Cougars at the Northtown Center at Amherst.  Tickets for regular season home games are $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and senior citizens.
