On October 11th the Jr. Sabres took on the Brantford 99ers at home, with Aiden McKenna getting the start in net. After a quiet first period, the 99ers got on the board first with an early goal in the second period. Tyler Isherwood would get his first OJHL goal to tie the game for the Jr. Sabres, with assists from Michael Kull and Ryan Shuler. As the 99ers struggled to stay out of the penalty box the rest of the game would be all Jr. Sabres. The Jr. Sabres second goal would go to Gavin Klassen with assists from Michael Kull and Shuler. The third goal would go to Brody Seitz with assists from Dylan Mcfadden and Patrick Cole. The Jr. Sabres would skate away with the 3-1 victory as McKenna made 18 saves for the Jr. Sabres.
Next up the Jr. Sabres were on the road to take on the Caledon Admirals on October 12th, with Leif Ekblad getting the start in net. With another quiet first period the Jr. Sabres headed to the second period with the game tied at zero before the Jr. Sabres would take the lead with a power play goal from John McLachlan assisted by Kull. The Admirals would tie the game back at one in the third period to force the game to overtime. The Jr. Sabres got the overtime win with a power play goal from Mcfadden assisted by Cameron Doran and McLachlan. Ekblad made 26 saves in the Jr. Sabres 2-1 overtime victory.
On October 15th the Jr. Sabres were back at home as they took on the Burlington Cougars, with McKenna getting the start in net. The first period was all Jr. Sabres as they put three goals on the board and kept the Cougars off the board. Kull had the first goal with assists by Jaden Ward and Haeden Ellis. Brody Seitz would give the Jr. Sabres the 2-0 lead with a goal assisted by Cole and Ward. The Jr. Sabres finished the first period with the 3-0 lead off a goal by Cole assisted by Seitz and Carter Cwiklinski.
The Jr. Sabres didn’t slow down in the second period putting more goals on the board. The fourth Jr. Sabres goal would come from Mcfadden with assists from Doran and Klaassen. Cole would get his second of the game to make it 5-0 Jr. Sabres with assists from Isherwood and Kull. Beckett Hinchsliff would get his first OJHL goal on a short handed goal with an assist from Klaassen to give the Jr. Sabres a 6-0 lead. Isherwood would get his second point of the night as he put the Jr. Sabres up 7-0 with assists from Ward and Zach Derito. Late in the second period the Cougars would get one past McKenna to make the score 7-1. The Jr. Sabres quickly answered with their eighth goal of the game on a goal by Danny Phelan assisted by Isherwood and Hinchsliff.
As the Jr. Sabres headed into the third period with a 8-1 lead the Cougars would put two more goals, including a power play goal, on the board to make the game 8-3. The rest of the game was all Jr. Sabres as they put up four more goals. Cole got the hat trick, assisted by Ellis and Hinchsliff, to make it 9-3. Cole would then get his fourth goal of the day on a power play goal assisted by Mcfadden and McLachlan. Doran would make it 11-3 for the Jr. Sabres with assists from Shuler and Cwiklinski. Alex Perrault would get a late goal with an assist from McKenna to seal the 12-3 victory for the Jr. Sabres. McKenna had 29 saves for the Jr. Sabres.
The Jr. Sabres are now 8-5-0-1 for the regular season. Next up they take on the Leamington Flyers at home on October 18th with a 7:45pm puck drop.
