(Milton, ON) – Tyler Gjurich scored twice to clear the 30-goal mark while Pat Egan (in photo) also scored a pair of goals, as the Buffalo Junior Sabres won their second straight game in a three-in-three road trip, defeating the Milton Icehawks, 7-3, Sunday afternoon at the Milton Memorial Arena.
The Junior Sabres jumped out to a big lead in the first period, with David Seward scoring just 1:48 into the contest. Nick Gullo scored moments later while Egan and Gjurich recorded their first goals of the game to send the visitors into the first intermission leading 4-0. Gjurich’s first period goal was his 30th of the season.
Ryan Schmelzer built the lead to 5-0 with his 11th goal of the season in the second period.
The Icehawks foiled Parker Gahagen’s bid for a second straight shutout by scoring at the 3:25 mark of the third period. Former Jr. Sabre turned Icehawk Shane Bennett (Grand Island, NY) added two goals for the hosts but Gjurich and Egan kept Milton at arm’s length with their second goals of the game. Gjurich leads the entire Ontario Junior Hockey League in goals with 31, while Egan added his 15th and 16th goals of the season.
Gahagen stopped 32 shots while the Jr. Sabres fired 44 shots on Milton goalie Braden Mann.
