The Junior Sabres jumped out to a big lead in the first period, with David Seward scoring just 1:48 into the contest. Nick Gullo scored moments later while Egan and Gjurich recorded their first goals of the game to send the visitors into the first intermission leading 4-0. The Icehawks foiled Parker Gahagen’s bid for a second straight shutout by scoring at the 3:25 mark of the third period. Former Jr. Sabre turned Icehawk Shane Bennett (Grand Island, NY) added two goals for the hosts but Gjurich and Egan kept Milton at arm’s length with their second goals of the game. Gahagen stopped 32 shots while the Jr. Sabres fired 44 shots on Milton goalie Braden Mann.
