Evans’ hat trick boosts St. Michaels over Buffalo, 5-4

Jake Evans netted a hat trick to lead the St. Michaels Buzzers over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 5-4.

Evans notched his first tally 4:21 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:05 into the third and at 17:41 into the third.

 

St. Michaels’ offense rang up 33 shots on Buffalo’s net. The Buzzers struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Jr. Sabres to score three power play goals on five chances.

St. Michaels also had goals scored by Jordan Schneider and Bron Loiselle, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Ian Edmondson and Thomas Beretta, who contributed one a piece and David Italiano and Angelpooulos Peter, who each chipped in two.

Buffalo was led by Pat Egan, who racked up one goal and two assists. Egan scored on the power play 15:08 into the second period to make the score 3-3. The Jr. Sabres had gotten the advantage when St. Michaels’ Anthony Filoso was sent off for hooking. Ryan Schmelzer assisted on the tally. Buffalo additionally got points from Schmelzer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Nico Gonzalez, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Nick Smith as well. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Tony DeVitoTim Kielich, and Dylan Howatt, who contributed one a piece.

George Argiropoulos rejected 22 shots on goal for the Buzzers. St. Michaels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Buzzers, Matt Pepler was ejected from the game. Buffalo’s Joseph Pianta stopped 28 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
