Jr. Sabres rally, beat Mississauga 5-3

(Port Credit, ON) – Buffalo squandered an early lead but rallied to defeat the Mississauga Chargers, 5-3, Saturday night at the Port Credit Arena.
Pat Egan opened the scoring at the 8:17 mark of the first period on the power play.  Nathan Pelligra’s power play goal at the 17:51 mark built Buffalo’s lead to 2-0.
The host Chargers scored three unanswered goals in the second period, credited to Matt Donnelly, Lucas Venuto and Trevor Warnaar.
The Jr. Sabres tied it up with Max Mikowski’s power play goal in the first minute of the third period.  Mikowski then put Buffalo in the lead with an even strength goal at the 13:33 mark.  Tyler Gjurich put the game on ice with his empty netter with less than a minute to go.
Rookie goaltender Bobby Bloomfield (in file photo) earned his first career win in Junior-A, turning aside 40 of 43 shots and helping the Jr. Sabres earn two points and stay in first place in the OJHL West Division.
The Jr. Sabres travel to North York on Sunday afternoon to face the North York Rangers, beginning at 3:00pm.
