The Jr. Sabres were back on the road against the Oakville Blades. Leif Ekblad got the start in net for the Jr. Sabres. The Jr. Sabres struck first with a goal from Patrick Cole with assists from John McLachlan and Brody Seitz. The Blades soon put one on the board to tie the game, but the Jr. Sabres quickly took back the lead with a goal by Dylan Mcfadden. Seitz got his second assist of the game, while Cole got his second point with an assist. The Jr. Sabres held onto the lead into the third until the Blades put another one on the board to tie the game back up. Regulation would end with the Jr. Sabres and the Blades in a 2-2 tie. Ekblad made 39 saves in regulation as the game headed to overtime. The first overtime saw the Jr. Sabres get two shots against the Blades goalie. 20 seconds into the second overtime the Jr. Sabres would take home the win with a goal by Michael Kull with an assist from Jaden Ward.
The Jr. Sabres are now 1-1 in the regular season and sit in 7th in the conference early in the season. Next up the Jr. Sabres return to Collingwood to take on the Blues on Friday September 15th.
