The Jr. Sabres opened the regular season on the road against the Leamington Flyers. Aiden McKenna got the start in net for the Jr. Sabres. In the first half of the opening period, McKenna faced 7 shots and made 3 saves, giving the Flyers four goals early in the game. After the fourth Flyers goal, Leif Ekblad entered in net for the Jr. Sabres. The Jr. Sabres put two on the board in the first period with goals from Cameron Doran and Brody Seitz. Doran put a third goal on the board for the Jr. Sabres at the start of the second period before the Flyers put two more goals on the board to make the game 6-3. The third period saw the Flyers put one more on the board and Ekblad stop the Flyers from scoring on a penalty shot. The Flyers came away with a 7-3 victory over the Jr. Sabres. Ekblad made 24 saves for the Jr. Sabres. While the Flyers goalie stopped 27 Jr. Sabres shots. Michael Kull, Tyler Isherwood, and Haeden Ellis each assisted on one of the Jr. Sabres three goals.
Next up for the Jr. Sabres is a faceoff against the Oakville Blades on Saturday September 9th.
