Milton downs Buffalo, 5-2

Jake Baird grabbed one point to lead the Milton Icehawks to a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

 

In the losing effort, Buffalo was sparked by Ryan Kuhn, who racked up two goals. Kuhn scored the first of his two goals at 10:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Chris Moses (APJ) assisted on the tally. Kuhn’s next tally made the score 2-2 with 10:59 left in the second period. Brandon Schaber provided the assist.

Milton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Icehawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Milton has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Milton also got points from Kane Elliot, who also had one goal and two assists and Ryan Burns, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Milton also got a goal from Cooper Richards as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Troy SaundersTJ Fergus, and Stephan Templeton, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Sabres average 4.8 goals per game. Buffalo’s offense rang up 51 shots on the Icehawks’ net.

More assists for Buffalo came via Nico Gonzalez, who had two.

Milton’s Tyler Lewis stopped 49 shots out of the 51 that he faced. The Icehawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Joseph Pianta made 30 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 35 shots. Buffalo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
