Jr. Sabres Drop Close One in Toronto, 2-1

(Toronto, ON) – The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots jumped out to a quick two-goal lead and held the usually potent Junior Sabres offense to just one goal, handing Buffalo a 2-1 loss Saturday night at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto.

Alex D’Oliviera put the home team in the lead just one and a half minutes into the opening period, while Michael Prappavessis increased the lead to 2-0 at the 17:47 mark.

Buffalo’s Ben Casale cut the lead to 2-1 with his goal at the 7:18 mark of the third period, but that’s all the offense Buffalo could produce in a tight game that also saw very few penalties.  The Jr. Sabres were penalized just six minutes while the hosts spent four minutes in the penalty box (although one of the infractions included a game misconduct for a check from behind).

Parker Gahagen, one night after shutting out the Milton Icehawks, took the loss while making 22 saves.

The Junior Sabres return home to the Northtown Center at Amherst on Monday evening, November 26, to face the Mississauga Chargers beginning at 7:30pm.
