Jr. Sabres Game Recaps September 26th to October 1st

September 26th to 28th the Jr. Sabres hosted the OJHL Governors Showcase as all 24 teams took the ice at the LECOM Harborcenter. On Tuesday the Jr. Sabres faced off against the Stouffville Spirit, with Aiden McKenna getting the start in net. Ultimately, the Jr. Sabres would come up short against the Spirit in a 5-1 loss. The Jr. Sabres lone goal came from Michael Kull with an assist by Nick Shaw.

Thursday the Jr. Sabres were back in action against the Toronto Patriots, with Leif Ekblad getting the start in net. The Patriots got a two-goal lead before the Jr. Sabres came back with three goals of their own to take the lead.  Patrick Cole put the Jr. Sabres on the board with a powerplay goal assisted by Dylan Mcfadden and Cameron Doran. Doran would then tie the game for the Jr. Sabres with assists from Ryan Shuler and Josh Przystal. Brody Seitz would give the Jr. Sabres the lead in the third period on an unassisted short-handed goal. The Patriots would come back to tie the game and force overtime. The Patriots would skate away with the overtime win on a power play goal as the Jr. Sabres lost 4-3.

The Jr. Sabres kicked off October by hosting the Georgetown Raiders, with McKenna getting the start in net for the Jr. Sabres.  The Jr. Sabres got on the board first with a goal from Przystal and assists from Haeden Ellis and Doran. The Raiders would tie the game back up at one a piece before Patrick Cole would take back the lead for the Jr. Sabres with a power play goal assisted by Brody Seitz and Doran. The Jr. Sabres headed into the third period with a 2-1 lead. Cole quickly put another one in the net to give the Jr. Sabres a 3-1 lead. Seitz and Camden Bowman got the assists on the goal. The Raiders would bring the game back within one halfway through the third period. Carter Cwiklinski put in two unassisted empty net goals to help secure the 5-2 win for the Jr. Sabres. McKenna made 31 saves in the net for the Jr. Sabres.

The Jr. Sabres are now 5-3-0-1 in the regular season. Next up the Jr. Sabres host the Oakville Blades on October 4th with a 7:45pm puck drop.
