JR. SABRES HOST SUCCESSFUL SHOWCASE

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres hosted another successful Ontario Junior Hockey League Governors’ Showcase last week at HARBORCENTER in downtown Buffalo.

Over the course of three days, each OJHL team made their way to Buffalo for a pair of games. Hundreds of scouts from a variety of levels – college, junior, etc. – attended this year’s showcase, in addition to fans, coaches, friends and family members.

Over 200 scouts were in attendance over three days.

The Jr. Sabres split their pair of showcase games. On Monday, they dropped a 6-2 decision to the St. Michael’s Buzzers despite outshooting the Buzzers 51-24.

Nicholas Alfieri and Nathaniel Berke scored for the Jr. Sabres. William Tragge had 18 saves.

The Jr. Sabres followed that up with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory on Tuesday on the New Wave Energy Rink at HARBORCENTER.

Matthew Jakubowski opened the scoring, with captain Adam Tretowicz and alternate Scott Ramaekers adding goals in the second period.

Ramaekers would add another goal on the man advantage early in the third period. Declan McDonnell sniped the overtime game-winning goal just 1:49 into the extra frame.

Kyle Pavicich, who had been called up from the Jr. Sabres’ youth hockey organization earlier that day, registered 18 saves in the victory.
